Official: Work on Russia, EU switch to euro settlements goes on well
MOSCOW, Jul 11 (PRIME) -- Russia and the E.U. states are working successfully on switching their settlements into the euros, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mariya Zakharova said in a news briefing on Thursday.
“Regarding the switch to euro settlements with the E.U. states, we are working on that. The work is quite successful, especially so because our European partners are also interested in popularization of their collective currency and in strengthening of its international positions,” she said.
The share of euros in the trade turnover between Russia and the E.U. is gradually rising, and the countries are interested in increasing the euro transactions. “In this context, our partners and we are considering a more active usage of the common European currency in settlements for supplies of Russian energy sources,” she said.
